Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you’re a new client, I ask that you begin with a consultation call  to determine whether we’re a good match. During the call, we will discuss your goals, and I’ll explain my approach so you can decide whether you’d like to move forward.

  • The Relationship Theory Model (RTM) is grounded in over 70 years of attachment research, along with neuroscience and neuroplasticity. RTM is structured, focused, and direct, and helps clients work with attachment patterns, shame, and trauma in ways that support meaningful, long-term change.  Perhaps you’ve heard of the benefits of the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy or Attachment Theory?  RTM is based on the same science that makes all of these methods work, but goes deeper and offers much more structure to create lasting change.

  • All of my work is informed by RTM, but I also offer couples’ therapy that does not require such a time commitment. I also offer traditional individual counseling and coaching.

  • RTM is the core framework in my practice because it is the most effective and structured approach I’ve found for attachment and relational work. It supports deep, lasting change and aligns closely with the kinds of outcomes my clients want.

  • Therapy and coaching can both be highly supportive, but they have different purposes. Therapy is intended to address mental health concerns and emotional healing, and may involve diagnosis and treatment. Coaching is focused on personal and relational growth, goal setting, and building new skills. Coaching is not mental health treatment and is not intended to diagnose or treat mental health conditions. Coaching is  not a substitute for  therapy.

  • Yes. I provide therapy (or coaching)  to clients located in Ohio, and I offer coaching services to clients outside of Ohio.

  • I’m a self-pay practice so I can provide flexible, individualized care without insurance restrictions. Since my sessions are longer than standard therapy sessions, they are not covered by insurance plans. I can provide a superbill upon request for clients who would like to seek out-of-network reimbursement.

  • Both. I see local clients in-person, in Dayton, Ohio, where I live. I see everyone else online.

  • 24 hours  notice  is required to cancel sessions. Late cancellations will be charged the full session fee.
